Peters Stone, Cressbrook Dale
Peter's Stone is in Cressbrook Dale in the Peak District National Park. It is a limestone mass that has broken away from the cliff, and slipped downhill on a layer of clay. It has been named Peter's Stone since the 19th century. Previously, the rock was called Gibbet Stone, as the bodies of executed criminals were placed on display here.
